Gemfire Tunable Optical Dispersion Compensator

The Gemfire PhotonIC™ Tunable Optical Dispersion Compensator (TODC) offers a best-in-class integrated solution for dispersion compensation. Leveraging Gemfire’s longstanding expertise in silica-on-silicon Arrayed Waveguide Gratings and polymer Planar Lightwave Circuits, we offer 10Gb/s- and 40Gb/s-compatible dispersion compensators that are easily adjustable for network configurability and reconfigurability.

This hybrid integrated TODC features low group delay ripple over a large dispersion tuning range, as well as a wide passband with low transmission loss and flat dispersion. A digital interface makes it simple to incorporate in your system, in either set-and-forget deployment or with active feedback. Furthermore, Gemfire’s TODC is cyclic in nature, resulting in a cost-effective dispersion management solution in multi-channel operation (i.e., replacing Dispersion Compensating Fiber), as well as in per-channel applications (providing a single part number across all channels).
