Gemfire Variable Optical Attenuator Array The Gemfire PhotonIC(tm) family of polymer-on-glass waveguide-based VOA array modules delivers enhanced functionality, integration, and performance that more than meets the needs of today's rapidly expanding optical networks and are capable of delivering more than 20dB of dynamic attenuation while consuming less than 20mW per port of drive power.
Gemfire VOA components are based on a patented thermo-optic polymer waveguide design that provides low insertion loss, a small footprint, and electronically controllable attenuation. A very low voltage and current drive requirement and excellent athermal performance minimizes deployment cost. This unique combination of innovative features and performance benefit-along with excellent price-performance value gives our 8-24 port VOA component family a distinct advantage in DWDM, metro networks, and other applications that demand compact, reliable, electrically-efficient devices.
